Auto-disable syringes launched in city

'Kojak Selinge' and auto-disable syringe introduced in the state capital by Hindustan Syringes and Medical Devices Ltd (HMD) promises to remove all fears of having an infected needle into you or that a syringe might be inadequately disinfected. The syringe has a unique mechanism, which renders it permanently useless after a single shot.

The syringe locks after a single use and the plunger breaks if any effort is made to refill it. Pradeep Sareen, GM (marketing) of HMD, while speaking at the launch of the product on Tuesday, said, "the auto-disable syringe has been adopted globally as it completely eliminates the risk of person to person transmission of blood borne pathogens like HIV and hepatitis-B"
